Wheelchairs for Africa
The Wheelchair and Business Tricycles project targets people with disabilities from disadvantaged social and economic backgrounds. Partners in this project are Rotary and Lions both of which are service organisations as well as the Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK), a local NGO that provides Rehabilitation and Advocacy that aims to address the needs of persons with disabilities. > read on...
PWDs (Persons With Disabilities)
The Lions-Rotary Project has revised its approach from provision of Wheelchairs and Business Tricycles only to also lobbying for the Rights of PWDs. We hope that this new dimension will enhance the support that is needed to empower PWDs.
We are embarking on a series of activities including;
- Awareness seminars.
- Reservation of a seat for PWDs in public service vehicles in Kenya,.
- Presentation of Awards to individuals, organizations and companies that are contributing towards empowering PWDs and creating PWD-friendly environments and facilities.
- We are also actively pursuing Economic empowerment of PWDs through provision of business tricycles.
